This first half of the color course focuses on understanding color from the terms associated with color, how lights project color, choosing color schemes, and much more. We go into different discussions like why Red and Cyan are considered true complimentary colors instead of red and green.
We begin first breaking down what is Color? Why is there confusion when figuring out what is considered Red? As we continue throughout this course we will constantly refer back to the three terms that better explain what color is.
From there we dive into working digitally and the differences that brings when working with color projected with light rather than pigments. Once you begin understanding working in RGB (Red, Green, Blue) then it becomes easier understanding how colors mix in this digital format.
Working with color, we need to understand the color wheels associated with art and the difference between the traditional and modern color wheels. We will then show you how to choose these colors accurately from within Photoshop.
Then we take the time to look at the terms associated with color such as tint, tone, shade, monochromatic, greyscale, analogous, complimentary, and warm/cool. There are a lot of color terms but they are quite simple once you know the meaning of each.
The last section in our understanding color course looks at creating basic color schemes and we have a guest appearance from one of our favorite color artists, Mel Herring giving her insights on working with color as well!

The second DR3 cast interview with Nanami’s VA, Hanazawa Kana.
Hanazawa’s birthday is February 25th and she’s from Tokyo.
Apparently she was as surprised as anyone that Nanami would be appearing in DR3.
Hanazawa was very happy to be playing Nanami again after four years, because she had done her best to play her in the game. She’s also happy that Nanami got her an award for best character voice from Famitsu.
She figured Nanami’s appearance was a secret when she wasn’t included in the trailer for the Zetsubou-hen announcement, and the entire time she wanted to tell people about it.
Hanazawa describes Nanami as someone who may not stand out among her classmates who ooze uniqueness, but once she begins talking it’s clear she has a strong sense of justice and is a girl who’s considerate of her friends. Though she can be spacey at times, she’s also got the makings of a class leader.
Things she has to be careful of when playing Nanami are to not talk too fast or too much, and to speak slowly, as if she’s thinking about what she’s saying as she’s saying it. However if the games come up, she varies her performance since Nanami just can’t stop talking on that subject.
Hanazawa thinks that the appeal of Dangan Ronpa is that you enjoy it more the more you know about it. At the recording studio, she was often surprised and excited to learn from other cast members and staff that certain things were connected to other things. There’s still a lot of things she doesn’t know.
The other day, Hanazawa was walking behind a group of three high school boys, and one of them was explaining who Junko was to the others. The other two had probably just started watching the anime, while the first boy knew things from the games, and he was passionately sharing what he knew with them. Then Hanazawa thought to herself “the person who plays Nanami Chiaki is right here in front of you” as she passed them.
She says the atmosphere at the recording studio is fun and lively because the cast is so big (though she feels bad for those people who don’t get a lot of lines). Since Zetsubou-hen contains a lot of gags, there’s a calm, fun atmosphere…though, of course, that only applies to the beginning. *pained smile*
Interviewer: The reason it can’t be that way until the end is because it’s Dangan Ronpa– Hanazawa: Nope, it’s because it’s Zetsubou-hen. (Yeah dude, it’s in the name come on.)
When asked what SHSL talent she’d like to have, Hanazawa says that Komaeda’s luck is the strongest, though she’d also be interested in having Tsumiki’s talent as a nurse’s aid, etc. After some indecision, she settles on SHSL Baker.
Interviewer: Baker! That’s an original talent. Hanazawa: It’s because I like bread, haha. But bakers have to get up in the middle of the night and start making bread early, don’t they? If you had the SHSL talent, you could get up late and still make delicious bread.
Hanazawa wants to let everyone know that Zetsubou-hen will contain bonafide despair, and that Nanami will be doing various things, so please watch until the end!
Her final words are that there will be exciting developments for longtime fans and new fans alike. She wants everyone to enjoy getting to see two episodes a week, and since there’s a new game coming out still, Dangan Ronpa isn’t ending, so please continue to support the series!
Just like with Shintaro in the original Kagerou Project video, two Hinatas are depicted going two parallel paths: one (wearing his signature green tie) continues to hope after the events of SDR2, while the other (wearing a red tie in some parts, and in others, is dressed as Izuru Kamukura) succumbs to despair. In the end, the one in despair cannot reach his lost friends (embodied as a whole by Nanami), while the other is able to.
